We absolutely loved our stay at rinn gion. It’s a quaint boutique hotel in the heart of gion near many beautiful shrines, shopping facilities and public transport. The rooms themselves are stunning with lovely little touches and every amenity you could need. Our room had a gorgeous view of a shrine just opposite the hotel and the rooms were spacious and had a little kitchen area and seating area. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and accommodated our every need and request. They also gave us tips and recommendations for our itinerary and showed a keen interest in helping us make the most out of our stay in Kyoto! It was my daughters 4th birthday during our stay there and when we got back from a day of exploring the hotel staff had bought her a beautiful tiara and some Disney princess origami paper as a gift which was so kind and generous! She was so happy and excited. We stayed in two more ‘commercial’ hotels in Tokyo and Osaka and nothing compared to the more personalable service recieved in Rinn Gion Kyoto!

We traveled as a family. The hotel graciously placed our grandmother in a single room on the same floor, which was very helpful. The rooms are very spacious, and having a little balcony was a wonderful addition. We had linked up with a friend in the area, and it was nice to have a drink on the balcony instead of crowding into and sitting on the beds in the room. My room was shared with my husband and two teen boys. The western style beds were exceedingly comfortable. The little tatami mat room with futons was perfect for the teens. They loved the traditional style and could close the shoji screen when they wanted privacy. The bathroom was large, and the tub and shower were lovely after a long day of sightseeing. The little kitchenette was a great way to get a quick coffee in the morning before starting the day, and the owner of the hotel was wonderful in assisting with sightseeing plans. The laundry facilities were a welcome bonus.

Everything was extremely comfortable and well designed - especially the pillows and mattresses: they were the most comfortable I've ever slept on. the view from the balcony on the shrine is amazing. The hotel has keycodes so that you don't have to remember to bring your key with you every time (very convenient). It is located in a great spot, everything is easily reachable - the train and bus stations, quality restaurants, zen gardens to visit, local shops, tea houses, really anything you may need. And finally, the staff was extremely nice and helpful with local sightseeing recommendations. We would definitely come back if we visit Japan again.

Valentina

We liked very much the location, in the middle of Gion which I consider the most beautiful quarter of Kyoto, with lots of facilities around, restaurants, bars, and very nice shops, and of course the atmosphere of ancient (though modern) Kyoto, with its temples and geishas. But the most important were the people who received us, they were sooo nice and friendly and, they went above and beyond to assist us and to make sure everything was taken care of.. Their dedication and willingness exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a great stay in Gion, I can only recommend this place.

Martine

The room was a corner room, right next to elevator but it was very silent at night. Had a private balcony that was beautiful. The bathroom was small but clean and had a beautiful wooden deep-soaking tub. The location was right off a main road, so it was central to everything (in between central/busy Kyoto where all the shops are) and the Gion district. Also the front desk employees were so kind, helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this stay and will definitely be back again next time I find myself in Kyoto.
